IANS has obtained a permanent observer status in Coordination Council Eurasia

IANS has obtained a permanent observer status in Coordination Council Eurasia The 36th joint meeting of Coordination Council (CC) and Coordination Group of Experts (CGE) Eurasia took place in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, from 23 to 26 April 2019.  More than 50 representatives attended the meeting.

BANS Took Part in HeliRussia 2018

From May 24 to May 26, 2018, the XI International helicopter industry exhibition HeliRussia 2018 was held at Crocus Expo, Moscow, where BANS exhibited its prototype of the helicopter onboard situational awareness system for helicopter crews (BSSO-B) for the first time.

Russian Nationwide UAV Exhibition and Conference at IANS Aerodrome

Russian Nationwide Exhibition and Conference “Unmanned Aerial Technologies for the Russian Fuel & Energy Sector” will be hosted by IANS on May 31, 2018 at Orlovka Aerodrome. The event is held under the auspices of the Russian Ministry of Energy.

IANS  Took Part in 3rd International Forum on Civil Aviation Safety

IANS participated in the 3rd International Forum on Civil Aviation Safety that took place in Beijing, China, from May 22nd to 23rd,2018.

IANS Remote Video Surveillance System Receives IAC Certificate

The Interstate Aviation Committee (IAC) has certified the first Russian remote video surveillance system developed by IANS. Similar certification activities are also being carried out by the Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsiya).

Compact airborne situational
awareness system (CASAS)
Intended use

Compact airborne situational awareness system (CASAS) is an integrated surveillance system for helicopters that provides Class A TAWS and RAAS functionality and supports indication of current location on a moving aeronautical chart, displaying information from on-board weather radar, TCAS, and cargo video surveillance system.

CASAS is based on the widespread А813-0409 Multifunctional Display (MFD) which simplifies product installation on the helicopters already using such MFDs.

Development of modification for aircraft is planned, as well as introducing a wider range of functions through the implementation of TCAS and ADS-B applications.

Reactive Ground Proximity Warning System
  • excessive descent rate at low altitude
  • excessive terrain or water surface approach rate at low altitudes
  • excessive altitude loss after take-off or go-round
  • out-of-tolerance high airspeed at low altitudes
  • excessive deviation below glideslope during landing
  • exceeding the threshold of difference between geometric and barometric altitude
  • passing transition heights during descent and landing

Information support: altitude-speed parameter sensors, radio altimeter (RA), instrument landing system (ILS)

Proactive Ground Proximity Warning System
  • warning on insufficient geometric altitude clearance ahead in the direction of a flight
  • recommendations on maneuvering to avoid collision with vertical or horizontal obstacles
  • displaying color-coded relative locations of hazardous natural and artificial obstacles laterally and vertically

Information support: altitude-speed parameter sensors, RAs, inertial attitude and heading reference system (AHRS), global navigation satellite system (GNSS) sensor, terrain and obstacle database

Location Information
  • input, editing and monitoring of operational flight plan
  • Information on approaching state borders, area control centers, dangerous and forbidden zones, etc.
  • inflight display of location and flight route on aeronautical mobile map

Information support: GNSS sensor, inertial AHRS, aeronautical database, aeronautical chart

Warning on Violation of Operating Restrictions
  • exceeding the permitted bank
  • exceeding the permitted pitch
  • excessive descent rate at low airspeed (the risk of vortex ring)

Information support: inertial AHRS, altitude-speed parameter sensors

Informing about Aircraft Location on Surface
  • information on the approaching runway or landing pad number
  • information on the number of an occupied or approaching runway, landing site, taxiway or parking place
  • information on the excessively long stay on a runway or a landing site
  • display of location on moving aerodrome (heliport) map during landing and taxiing

Information support: GNSS sensor, inertial AHRS, aerodrome (heliport) database

CASAS advantages:
  • reducing the number of false alarms during terrain assessment in the direction of a flight by optimizing the size of working area for each flight mode
  • reducing the number of false alarms during terrain assessment in the direction of a flight by consciously lowering clearance altitude when operating at extremely low altitudes
  • increasing clearance altitude given the length of the external cargo sling
  • ensuring optimal obstacle avoidance trajectory by maneuvering both laterally and vertically
  • improving security of overflying artificial obstacles inaccurately reflected in the database by building buffer zones around them
  • increasing the accuracy of determining the true height by complex processing of altitude information
  • showing color-coded relative location of hazardous natural and artificial obstacles both laterally and vertically
  • increasing awareness of the airdrome crew by implementing RAAS functionality
  • displaying moving aeronautical chart
  • providing information in Russian and English
